kids, prevent injuries and save lives!
On Saturday, May 3, 2014, Safe Kids Portland Metro will celebrate the 16th anniversary of Safe Kids Day at the Oregon Zoo! Thanks to generousity of the Oregon Zoo, families can learn how to prevent injuries from: falls, car crashes, drowning, poison, fires, and learn about 9-1-1 at the Zoo! Guests who complete the 'Safety Safari' by visiting fun acitivity stations earn a prize! The event is from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and is free with zoo admission. The first 400 eligible kids who complete the event will win a bike helmet!
When a child dies or is seriously injured, the lives of families and entire communities are changed forever. In the United States, injuries are the #1 killer of kids. Millions more are injured in ways that can affect them for a lifetime. But while the statistics are hard, the solutions are easy.
We need your help!
Simple steps can save lives! Partners of Safe Kids Portland Metro, a 501(c)3 non-profit led by American Medical Response, have been helping keep kids safe for the last 19 years. Our coalition of health professionals, firefighters, paramedics, traffic safety experts, health educators, businesses, and public policy makers work to raise awareness and support live-saving programs to protect kids from injuries. Proceeds from Safe Kids Day support the injury prevention efforts of Safe Kids Portland Metro and our partner, Safe Kids Worldwide, a leading global nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing childhood injury. Funds raised through Safe Kids Day enable our team to reach more families with life-saving prevention information, expand existing programs and launch new programs to protect kids in our community.
