Dear Friends,

As many of you know, one year ago an event took place that forever changed our lives.  Our three year old son, Niko, was found at the bottom of his grandparents' swimming pool. We all watched in horror as Alex and Niko's uncle performed CPR on our son's lifeless body trying to revive him. Several intense minutes passed without any response and thoughts of realizing our worst nightmare had begun to creep in. It was not until we saw a tiny glimmer of life appear in Niko's eyes that we realized there was still hope. We watched our little boy literally fight for his life. By some miracle he was able to pull through and today he is alive and healthy.

We've come to learn that drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children 1-4 years old and most of these drownings occur in home swimming pools. Somehow, our family was spared an unimaginable fate. Countless others have not been as lucky. Please join us in helping prevent this tragedy from happening to other families.

For every $1,250 raised, 50 kids can be taught to swim. Please consider helping save a child's life by making a donation of any amount to help us reach this goal.

Thank you so much for helping to keep kids safe!

PS Niko later told us that he had taken off his floaties and snuck back to the pool because he wanted to 'swim like the big kids'. This picture was taken exactly one year later. Niko has been taking regular swim lessons and can swim across the pool on his own!  Just like the big kids.

Here is a little more information about Safe Kids:

Every year around the world, a million families lose a child to a preventable injury. In fact, preventable injuries are the number one killer of kids in the United States today.

We can change this.

I’ve joined the Safe Kids Day campaign to raise awareness and resources to support Safe Kids Worldwide, a global nonprofit dedicated to preventing childhood injuries and deaths due to car crashes, drowning, fires, falls and more.
