Team Safe Kids @ the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon
Join Team Safe Kids in the 2012 Marine Corps Marathon on October 28, 2012!
Safe Kids Worldwide is a global network of organizations dedicated to providing parents and caregivers proven and practical resources to protect kids from unintentional injuries, the number one cause of death to children in the United States. Throughout the world, almost a million children die of an injury each year, and every one of these tragedies is preventable. Through innovative research, education and advocacy, Safe Kids works with an extensive network of more than 600 coalitions and chapters in the U.S. and in 23 countries to reduce traffic injuries, falls, burns, poisoning, drowning and more. Since 1988, Safe Kids has helped reduce the U.S. childhood death rate from unintentional injury by 51 percent.
Last year, we had 10 bibs in the Marine Corps Marathon and raised just over $40,000 for the organization, and this year we’re dreaming big! We have 25 bibs and a goal of raising $100,000 for the organization. All funds raised will be used to continue Safe Kids program efforts and prevent tragedies from happening to children and families.
With over 30,000 runners, servicemen and women lining the course, and the beautiful DC scenery, this is one of the best races in the country.
